Toxic Lead Found In Toys, Lipstick

It seems like there's been a new recall every week. And now the Alliance for a Healthy Tomorrow has some new information that you may want to share with your friends: we found lead in two other kinds of products that aren't being recalled--PVC vinyl products and lipstick.

Lead in Children's Products

How Did We Do Our Testing?

Lead in Lipstick

Toys aren't the only products laced with dangerous heavy metals: lipstick manufactured in the United States and used daily by millions of American women also contains surprisingly high levels of lead, according to new product tests released last week by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. Brands that tested positive include L'Oreal, Cover Girl and Christian Dior. For full details and to Take Action go to the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics web site.

Are the recalls enough? We think that the answer is no.

No toys should have lead in Massachusetts so the Alliance for a Healthy Tomorrow will soon be announcing a campaign to get lead out of toys. The state government can step in - we will be seeking a Department of Public Health regulation to make our products safe for kids.

We'll need your help, so stay tuned for actions you can take. In the meantime, please e-mail info@healthytomorrow.org or call 617-338-8131 x203 and we'll let you know how you can help us kick this off.
